Different Types of Earplugs

There are many different types of earplugs, from foam to re-usables, to no-rolls to custom molded plugs to banded ear plugs – and even ear plugs for horses! There are also earplugs that are recommended for specific applications such as hunting and shooting, motorcycle riding, swimming, and those more suitable for children. When sourcing earplugs, keep in mind that ears are like fingerprints: each one is unique, so the only way to choose the “best” earplugs is to try them out for yourself.

Foam Earplugs

Foam earplugs are effective, comfortable, and inexpensive, making them ideal for most noise protection applications.

Moldable Earplugs

Moldable earplugs offer a great solution when you cannot stand to have an earplug stuck in your ear canal, or when you just cannot get a good, comfortable fit in a reusable earplug. For swimming and sleeping, moldable earplugs offer an excellent alternative to other kinds of earplugs.

Banded Earplugs

Ideal for shooting and other intermittent noise situations, banded earplugs, or hearing bands, feature earplugs mounted on a plastic headband. They are available in a variety of styles and help keep plugs in place for a better, more effective fit. Never lose your earplugs again!

Reusable Earplugs

Reusable earplugs come in two varieties, industrial reusable earplugs, which are excellent for general noise protection applications, and consumer reusable earplugs, which come in a variety of styles to suit many specific applications.

No-Roll Foam Earplugs

With no-roll plugs, you use a built-in central stem to just push the foam plugs into your ears, for a simple, sanitary, effective and inexpensive option to traditional roll down foam earplugs.

Electronic Earplugs

Electronic earplugs are a superior choice for any situation in which you need hearing protection and situational awareness. They are an excellent choice for hunters and shooters, for music educators and musicians, and for industrial workers. Situational awareness and smart hearing protection make electronic earplugs some of the very best all-around safety equipment for hearing available today.

As you can see, there are many types and styles of quality earplugs available. When making a decision on purchasing earplugs, be sure to take into consideration what your activity level is, along with what feels the most comfortable. Selecting the right earplugs is a great way to help ensure you maintain good hearing health. Here at Sonus, we are committed to your long-term hearing health.
